Republican Whitman unveils new iPhone app
SACRAMENTO — Can't get enough Meg Whitman? Now there's an application for that. The Republican gubernatorial candidate's campaign announced Friday that it now has a free iPhone app. Supporters can use the "mobile campaign dashboard" to watch clips of Whitman speeches, read her policy proposals and engage in social media with her other supporters.
Running for Ottawa's top job? Yep, there's an app for that. For about $4,000, Mayor Larry O'Brien got his very own iPhone application -- just a touch away from everything including his schedule to social networking sites.
Kanata South candidate Aaron Helleman launched an iPhone application for Kanata South on Aug. 23 and hopes it will increase communication with constituents.
The Internet has opened new avenues for politicians to connect directly with voters, and the latest to jump on the bandwagon is Ottawa Mayor Larry O’Brien. He is following a number of council candidates and launching an iPhone application that will give his campaign a new tool to reach voters. The application will be released after the mayor’s campaign kickoff Sept. 8.
